It depicts the\r\nmoment when two gentlemen, arrived in a boeierjacht, are rowed to the ship. The Hasewint was one\r\nof the smaller vessels in the fleet of the Dutch Republic and belonged to the Amsterdam squadron in\r\nthat fleet. For a long time, Hendrick Dubbels' work stood in the shadow of more famous\r\ncontemporaries such as the marine painters Willem van de Velde the Younger and Ludolf\r\nBackhuysen.
