The pictorial, graphic and even literary work of Antonio Saura is one of the most passionate and transferable corpus of Spanish art of the 20th century. Antonio Saura’s work evolves from early surrealism to abstract art. In 1957, he became the leading theorist of informalism in Spain with the founding of the El Paso group along with artists such as Rafael Canogar, Manuel Millares and Luis Feito, among others. The artists who formed El Paso opened a new chapter in the history of Spanish art: a free avant-garde was born after two decades of creative silence.
